Risk Assessments
The Secure Upland Gamebird Supply (SUGS) plan risk assessments are based on current research in virology, epidemiology, and risk-assessment as well as upland game bird industry practice. The SUGS plan uses science- and risk-based preparedness and response components to proactively assess the risk associated with the movement of upland gamebird industry products from a premises caught in a state with an animal disease emergency and under the stop movement orders that are used to control an outbreak during an HPAI outbreak. The mitigation measures evaluated in the proactive risk assessments have been translated into permit guidance for the movement of upland gamebird industry products (view Upland Gamebird permit guidances in the Secure Poultry Supply Plan).
